I am now sailing to America because my family was poor from bad farmland harvesting, so they wanted me to find a better life in America with better farmland.

Immigration to America

I am now sailing to America because my family was poor from bad farmland harvesting, so they wanted me to find a better life in America with better farmland. Poland was running out of land to use for it's farming gain. America has a lot of land to spare, so I better get there before it's too late. I hope I earn enough money to make that dream come true.

Arriving in America

Feb 24, 1880

I have arrived in America where a nice man offered me his home to use for rent for a very low price. I think I can get along with him well for now. I thank him for the house to use. Things should work our for a while with him. But I learned about many bad things that could happen while you are in America. Anywhere, any time.

Finding a Job

After about a week of searching, I have found a job able to fit my needs for paying rent and saving up for immigrating to the west for the land. I should have enough within a year or so to immigrate to the west. I can live with that. I also have been having problems with the owner of the house I'm staying at. I hope it gets better eventually.

Thoughts About Westward Expansion and Recent Events

Jan 26, 1881

I have just enough money to migrate to the west and as I am thinking about it the manager barges into my room saying that I beat up his wife. I found out later I had been framed because someone at my workplace didn't like me. So he kicked me out of his home and I couldn't live there. The rumor was spread to my job, kicking me out and I couldn't make any money. I had no house. So since I had enough money to migrate anyways and I had no other choice, I just took the next train to the west then.

Making it to the West

Mar 5, 1881

I have made it to the west in some beautiful plains and have bought some wonderful land to use for farmland away from most people in a peaceful area. I saw a picture of the house and the farmland. The house and farmland were great. I have a bruise on the face because some rich guy that was on the train with me was bragging about being rich and saying he was going to get the best farmland. I was annoyed with the bragging and got a bit rude with him and the result was a punch in the face from him.

Peaceful Home and Good Money

Wonderful 3 years now away from anyone in a peaceful area with a perfect farm and good money income. My parents would be proud. I am proud to be here alone and away from everybody and having a great Christmas Eve.
