Because i was born in a wealthy family with 3 kids, i got a lot of items from my family but I never got much attention from my parents.

Moving Away From My Family

I am almost 16 years old. I am planning to leave my family and going to America. My parents still don't pay attention to me. Because my family is big, I don't get noticed by anyone. I think the only way my family will pay any attention to me is if i move away.

Getting Off the Boat at Ellis Island

Today I got off of the boat at Ellis Island. The boat was ok i was in a higher class than most people. Because i left my home back in England, I had to move in with my reletives. My relatives lived in Michigan. the city was small but good enough for me.

Moving West

May 17, 1889

I decided to move west to Washington, in a train, with my friend Elizabeth from Mullingar, Ireland. I am moving west because i hear there is land for sale by a few mines in washington, the puget sound area. Because I moved West by train, it was faster then going west by wagons. The wagons would have taken about 6 months, but by train the trip took 3 weeks. the train was pleasent but very crowded.

Mining in Washington

I am in Washington and i live in a house near a mine near Puget Sound. Because i came to Washington, I found coal in the mine near my house. I can use the coal to power the electricity. The electricity can be used for lots of things like Factories and Houses.
Coal is a big part of the factories and our lives.

Settled Down in Washington

I have settled down in a nice house in washington. Elizabeth and i have split the money to buy the house. I used the money i brought and i sold the silverwere for money. Because i bought the house in washington, i can go mining for coal in the mines. My house is in a great locations because i have a huge coal mine near my house.
