  • I don't like potatos

    I don't like potatos
Before the famine happened, I bought potatoes with the bit of money I had. I was hoping they would grow and I could sell them for more, but... it just happens the Potato Famine comes in my way.
  • Gosh darn bullies

    Gosh darn bullies
I had accidentally dropped my clothes on the ground. Spent half a minute picking them up, and got yelled at the whole time! I was put under so much pressure, it felt like i wanted to explode.
  • Got a job!

    Got a job!
Finally, after leaving the boat, I came out to the crowded streets. There were five men standing in a corner advertising a farm job, and take it.
  • Average farm owner?

    Average farm owner?
One of the five walk me over to the farm. There are about 20 people working, exausted. The farm was just a bit over 4 miles away. The farm owner was very mean, and it seems no one had liked him.
  • Leaving the farm!

    Leaving the farm!
It took a long time, but after 5 months of hard work, I finally had saved enough money to take the train to the West. I pack up, say my last goodbyes to the few friends I have made at the farm, and then I leave to the train. The farm owner yells at me, but I don't care about him.
  • Meeting Jonsey

    Meeting Jonsey
It is a bit after midnight when my train finally arrives. It was very exausting, and I wander around, blankly minded, breathing in the fresh air. After some time, I feel really groggy and go to fall asleep under a tree. When I wake up, i find someone sleeping on my lap. I jump, suprised, and he wakes up.
  • Horses...

    Horses...
His name was Jonsey. We introduce ourselves, and he seems like a nice guy. He explains that he was looking around for his lost horse, that ran away when his brother accidentally released the gate for a few seconds. It seems like theres nothing else to really do, so I go and help him find the horse.
  • Lucky me!

    Lucky me!
When we finally find the runaway, he was chewing on some grass and clovers in a nice, grassy meadow. I wonder if this was the kind of land they gave away. Jonsey and I take the horse back to his farm, which wasn't all too far away from where the horse was. I wonder how he got all the way to my tree? Jonsey introduces me to his brother, and offers me a job if i want one. I take it, and they smile. Seems like they really need some people to help them with cattle.
  • Ranching is great

    Ranching is great
I explain that i am not too experienced in ranching and that i just came to the U.S., and they tell me it's ok. Jonsey and his brother Terra teach me how to work as a cowhand. They were very kind, and I work hard.
  • Got a room too!

    Got a room too!
After the day has ended, Jonsey and Terra let me sleep in a small room in the side of the house. It's a nice place, cozy and warm. I really like it here.
  • The market

    The market
Jonsey's farm is very far away from the market, so i have to go ride a mule very far away to sell the cattle and supply we produce. I also buy milk, and other things, like food and clothing for me, Jonsey and Terra. I go every sunday, and sometimes Jonsey or Terra will take my place if they need something specific. I like going to the market, the things that everyone sells are so unique i love to jsut wander around, looking at things.
  • Working with Jonsey

    Working with Jonsey
I keep working at Jonsey's farm, and we grow closer every day. While we work, playful chats come up, sometimes about how stupid the horses are, or some other things. I soon become like brothers with Jonsey and Terra. I get the feeling that I had got it easy here, much easier than some others. I had struck gold.
