    Moving West
I was off, I left my family and hopped on the boat to the Promise Land. I was tired of Italy, there was nothing much here for me. I wanted a new life, a new experience, and most of all I wanted land. And America had it all.
  • Work

    Work
There was a man by a great big building, as I got off the boat. I went up to him and I told him my name was Gabriella and he inrtoduced himeslf as Harold. It was getting late so he let me sleep inside his hotel. I showed my gratitude and went to sleep. The next morning I woke up and got ready to leave the hotel I asked Harold if he knew anywhere I could find work. He said "funny you should mention it, i need someone to serve people breakfast." I replied "Thank you so much sir, I will take it!"

  • Death of Sarah Jones

    Death of Sarah Jones
Sarah Jones was the second person to welcome me in America. We worked together for a year and five months and everyday we became closer and closer. She died today, on October 29, 1867. Many people grieved, she was a very nice and generous lady. I went to her burial ceremony just an hour ago, i had to leave early because I couldn't stop balling. I will miss Sarah Jones, for she was a warmhearted person and welcomed me to the Promise Land.
  • Marriage

    Marriage
I got married in a white church. My husbands name is Henry lee. This has been one of the most happiest days I have been my whole life. I wore a blue dress that is silky, it was a gift from my mother because she had worn it on her special wedding day. About 10 people came to the wedding incuding my parents, my sister, my two brothers, his father, his two sisters, and his four brothers. We love each other very much and I will take care of his every need.
  • Moving to the West

    Moving to the West
It took 13 days for me and my husband to get here, we brang cattle, food, clothes, and a carriage. They already have a few houses and buildings built for new comers. I've always wanted to own my own farm land, the free land pulled me here from Boston with my family. The horse race is coming up in a few days and i am determined to win, I will get my land one way or another and nothing can get in the way. It is beautiful out here, there are so many trees and you can relax as long as you want to.
  • Children

    Children
I had my first two children. They were twins and were named Joseph and James. James has blue eyes and brown hair like his father with a dimple on his left cheek. Joseph doesn't look anythin like him because he has blond hair and brown eyes with big red cheecks just like me. I'm so happy right now and thankful. They are a handful but me and my husband can manage. During the day he will work in the factory while I'll be home watching the kids and managing the house and all the chores.
