    Mexican Cession
    The Mexican Cession included land that was later known as California, Nevada, Utah, part of Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Wyoming. This large chunk of land was owned by the Mexico Republic which they then finally gave up the land from Texas to the Pacific Ocean and sold it to the United States for $15 million.

    Treaty of Gualdalupe Hidalgo
    The treaty of Guadalup Hidalgo was a very Impotant time in History for not only Texas and Mexico but also the United States.This treaty was created to make peace between Texas, United States, and Mexico. The treaty also said that Mexico agreed that Texas was now apart of the US and that Mexico surrendered all land between Texas and the Pacific Ocean. The transfer of land from Mexico to United States was later known as the Mexican Cession.

    Abraham Lincoln is the man known for his famous Four Score and Seven Years ago speech he delivered on November 19, 1863 at the end of the ceremonies dedicating the battlefeild cemetery at Gettysburg. "Four score and Seven Years Ago our fathers brought forth on this new continent a new nation, conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal." This quote made all bad thoughts about him change. Lincoln did not support slavery and was a man of good character!

    Texas secedes from the Union
    Texas seceded from the United States on February 1st, 1861 and joined the Confederate States on March 2nd, 1861. Texas sepperated from the United States because Texa still wanted Slavery and didn't want to follow all of the Unions rules. Texas held a convention allowing the texans to vote whether or not to stay with the Union. Texans who voted to leave the Union mainly did it over the objection of their governor Sam Houston.

    The battle of Gettysburg was known as a blood bath that killed many soldiers. 51,000 soldiers were killed, wounded, captured, or listed missing after the battle.It was the largest battle of the war with the casualties totaling 51,000 total soldiers, 8,000 killed, 27,000 wounded, and more than 16,000 missing or taken prisoner. This battle was the turning point in the American Civil War.Everything was different after the battle of Gettysburg.
  • 13th Amendment

    13th Amendment
    The 13th amendment was created after the election of Abraham Lincoln. The 13th amendment stated that all slavery was to be abolished! All Slavery in the Union was now illegal according to the 13th amendment. This amendment had a big impact on the Union, there were many people who were very furious although there were people who were relieved. The slaves felt that they were now blessed and were extremely thankful for the new amendment,
  • 14th Amendement

    14th Amendement
    The 14th amendment stated that al men and women born or naturalized in the Uninted States were to be given Citizenship. This now allowed all slaves to be treated more like human, and that they were now treated equal. Slaves finally felt good about being able to walk around and not being treated so badly. For those who were born or naturalized in the Union they were once again thankful for the new amendment.
  • 15th Amendment

    15th Amendment
    The 15th amendment gave all African American MEN the right to vote. Only MEN were allowed to vote. Women of any race were still not allowed to vote. Now African American men could truly be treated as equal. Now there would be an input/vote from Men of all kinds of ethnicities. This was the last major amendment during Lincoln time of being President. When Lincoln became president, everything changed.
