The beginning pages introduct Anne Franks life and her thoughts about it. She then goes into talking about how she and her family needed to leave her home because it's not safe for them to be there. In these months Anne is getting to know her housemates better and adjusting to life in the Secret Annexe. She is learning how to deal with the different personalities of the people in the house, like how Mrs. Van Daan is ill tempered and how her mother and her will never see eye to eye. During this time Anne and her family and friends have been leaving in the Secret Annexe for a year, they are dealing with sickness, clothing shortage, and bugulars. Not to mention, the war is really hitting a climax, so they have that to worry about as well. The Franks and the Van Daans have been living in the Secret Annexe for a year, and they have learned to live with each other, but they still continue to argue. Along with the almost constant arguing the people they use to get food from are facing a sickness of some sort so they have to be catious with food rations. These chapters focus on the relationship between Peter Van Daan and Anne, in the beginning they didn't interact very much, but lately they have been spending more and more time together. Everyone in the Secret Annexe seems to think that Peter and Anne are more then friends, but Anne is unsure of where they stand. The news regarding the war doesn't seem to be getting any better, which makes Anne unsure of whats going to happen to her and her family. Nonfiction: pages 114-175. Total (833) -

During the last few months of Annes writing in her diary she is very hopeful that she is going to get out of the Seceret Annexe soon and be able to go back to a normal life. Though everyone is hopeful, tension are running high and the ability to get food is getting sparse. The invasion of the Secret Annexe was sad to read about, but it was interesting to hear her story.
