    Ian Hacking has been award a multitude of honors for his work, even though his says that mathematics was his first "love", he develop the lifetime engagement in philosophy. Hacking unique understanding of the past and mixing of present day thought processes have evolved how philosophy is look at. He states that the fundamentals are important and should never be forgotten.

    Ian Hacking, born 18 February,1936, Vancouver, Canada is a respected Philosopher in science, with numerus books, papers and awards under his built. Grandy 2007.

    Hacking started with his education in Vancouver at the University of British Columbia, where he received his first BA in mathematics and physics. After, he continued to Cambridge University receiving his BA, MA, and Ph.D. in Moral Sciences. Grandy 2007.

    Student Becomes Teacher

    Between 1962 and 1982, Hacking focused on Philosophy. Hacking was taught Philosophy at different institutions throughout the United States and abroad, places such as Oxford and Princeton for example. While on his travel of studying, Hacking published two papers in Philosophy of Mathematics, The Logic of Statistical Inference 1965 and The Emergence of Probability and Inductive Logic. Once 1982 came around, Hacking returned to Canada at the University of Toronto. Grandy 2007.

    There is a turning point in Hacking's thought process around this time. With the studies of traditional Philosophy, Hacking was curious of applying logic to philosophy, which he elaborates further in his future publishing's. Grandy 2007.

    In 2000, Hacking was given a permanent chair at the College de France for his work in philosophy.

    An Introduction to Probability and Inductive Logic
    Hacking's 2001 book was brought up in his UC Berkeley Graduate Council Lecture 2011, that his explanations were brought no to just the scientific community, but the entry level individuals with his simplistic explanations of philosophy with a logic twist.

    On top of the $50,000 Molson Prize, Hacking was awarded the inaugural Killam Prize for the Humanities in 2002.

    Hacking holds the title of Fellow at the American Academy of Arts and Science, British Academy and the Royal Society of Canada. Eventually receiving the title Companion of the Order of Canada in 2004.
