    Hacking taught Philosophy at many institutions including the University of British Columbia from 1964-1969, University of Cambridge from 1969-1974, Stanford University from 1975-1982, University of Toronto from 1982-2004 where he was also appointed university Professor, and lastly at College de France from 2000-2006 where he was appointed as the first Anglophone to hold a permanent position as chair of the philosophy and history of scientific concepts.

    Throughout his life, Hacking had numerous works across various subjects. Some of the topics of his publishing include the Philosophy of Science, Philosophy of Mathematics, and Philosophy of Language. He had 13 books published, of which multiple received coveted awards.     Ian Hacking passed away on May 10th, 2023. During his life, Ian Hacking received many honours and awards including, the Molson Prize 2001, the Killam Prize 2002, the Gold Medal for Achievement in Research 2008, and the Holberg Prize 2009.
