Wheellock Musket
Johann Kiefuss invented the wheellock musket in 1517. When you spin the wheel with your finger, the flint pressed against its surface throws sparks. The same system was used in these firearms to create sparks as needed to light the gunpowder to fire the gun. This was inportant because it was little and easy to carry arund in war. Lead Pencil (Graphite)
Conrad Gessner invented the pencil. In 1564 a huge Graphite mine was found in England. The graphite was sawn into sheets then garved into square rods. Thermometer (Water)
Galileo was an Itlalian Philosopher who invented the water thermometer in 1593. The water was in a glass bulb and as it got hotter the water moved up the thermometer. The thermometer is important because it lets you know if things are getting to cold or hot. -

A barometer measures air pressure.
