This event is important on the timeline because This is the day that the storm formed over the Bahamas would come to be known as Katrina. A name that would be remembered to this day. Also, this is the day that started the evacuation that would eventually evacuate over 1 million people. -

Hurricane Katrina Reached Category 3 Intensity. The mayor of New Orleans calls for a vouluntary evacuation. This is important because this day is when katrina started to become a higher level risk to the new orleans area. -
Day 6
Just After Midnight, Katrina Reached Category 4 Intensity. Evacuations were being made. This is important because this is the day that hurricane katrina did the most damage and was at its highest intensity. -
Day 7
Katrina Makes Third Landfall as a Category 3 Hurricane. Hurricane katrina hits louisiana. This event is important in the timeline because it is when katrina hit louisiana, which is another major damage site. -
Day 8
Search and rescue teams still focus on medical attension for survivors. This day os one of the less important days, but still should be included. This is important because it shows how many people needed to be rescued from the disaster. -
Day 9
Katrina is Downgraded to a Tropical Depression. The secretary of Health and Human Services declared a public health emergancy in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida due to contaminated water. This event is very important to the timeline becuase even though katrina is calming, the consequenses of the earlier stages of katrina are still starting to take action. -
Day 10
The mayor of Louisiana went on national TV asking for a supply of food for thoes that are taking shelters in the Superdome and the New Orleans Covention center. This event is important because it shows how katrina ripped people out of their homes and ripped apart communities. -
Day 11
President George W. Bush signs a bill giving 10.5 billion dollars in aid for Hurricane Katrina rescue and relief. This event is important because it shows how katrina was a very destructive storm, and how it would eventually cost the united states ovee 100 billion dollars.
