The Cause
Another cause of the Hundred Years War was because the French monarchy tried to force new taxes in towns of northern Europe because those areas were wealthy due to trade and cloth-making. Battle of Crecy
This battle was fought in the village of Crecy in northern France and the French side was defeated even though they had a numerous advantage. The French knights and crossbowmen were easy to spot for the English longbowmen. Joan of Arc was a 17-year old French peasant girl who argued that religious enlightenment lifted the Siege of Orleans which was significant because the victory of the French caused a turning point in the Hundred Years War.
