Europe BEFORE the Magna Carta
Before the Magna Carta, monarchs could do as they pleased. The King or Queen had all the power in the government, similar to a Centralist government. -

Magna Carta
This document was the first to declare everyone equal in eyes of the law, though it only gave its rights the free men.It was the end of a minor English revolt against King John. This would later become a significant advance in the development of human rights. -
Enlish Bill of Rights
This document diminished the monarch's power in the government, created the Parliament, and gave British citizen a considerable amount of civil rights. This document was a major advance in Human Rights. -
US Independence
In their Declaration, it was stated for the first time, that everyone would be equal in eyes of the law. It also gave citizens the right of protest, speech and many other rights. This was also a great advance in Human Rights. -
Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen
This is practically the predecessor of the UN's Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It included the Right of Freedom, Movement, and Thought. This is considered one of the major development points in the history of Human Rights. -
US bans slavery
After the Union won the American Civil War, all Southern slaves were freed, and given "equal" treatment as any other person. We consider this a medium advance in Human Rights, since black Americans did not actually recieve equal treatment and rights until the late XXth century. -
The Holocaust
In this awful time period, most Human Rights were taken away from certain groups of the European population based on their ethnicity. This may be the biggest reduction in the development of Human Rights in History. -
UN's Universal Declaration of Human Rights
This is a significant advance in Human Rights, some say it's the biggest adbance, but we consider some other documents more important for setting up the bases for this document. Also, this document is not mandatory yet. -
Future
In the short term future, Human RIghts advance will stay the same as right now. However, we believe that in a couple of decades there will be some significant advance, though, it will take a lot of time to have them be respected globally, also, this change will not be easy, it wll take some long struggles in the UN.
