Human brain development during 0-2 years

  • Birth

    The infant's brain is born with 100 billion neurons.
  • 5-9 Months

    A baby's motor control and communication skills develop. At this stage babies learn about balancing and responding to commands.
  • 9-12 Months

    A baby will start to crawl and move around. Babies attempt to stand by holding a person's hand. Infants will start to pay attention to language that they hear. This is where first words emerge.
  • 12-18 Months

    Children will go in and out of walking. The baby will start to interact with their environment. The child is now more attentive to commands and will try to communicate with words.
  • 18-24 Months

    The child will start running, jumping and throwing their weight. The child is now more attentive to language and will communicate more with words.
