Astronauts training for Space Telescope Mission
This was the first telescope to be visited by astronauts for space repairs. -
Work begin on the Telescope's Mirror
This was the first object chosen to be built, it was 2.4 meters long and it was the pinnacle piece of the telescope. -
The "Large Space Telescope" is renamed Hubble
The original name of the Telescope was "The Large Telescope." -
Proposed Launch date
Hubble Telescope Launch had to be postponed due to the challenger disaster as well as some other technical difficulties. -
Work on Hubble is completed and it is ready for Launch

Hubble's main mirror was found to have been ground incorrectly, It is the only telescope to be serviced in space by astronauts. -
Hubble takes pictures of comet Shoemaker Levy 9 as it hits Jupiter
Comet was being tracked as it split into seperate pieces and it's collision with Jupiter was predicted, this is how the picture of the comet making impact was made possible. -
Hubble takes the famous “pillars of creation” photo of the Eagle Nebula
This photograph was named one of the top 10 taken by Hubble. -
The first Hubble Deep Field is released, showing the unimaginable number of galaxies in the Universe

Second Service Mission Launched
The second service mission consisted of just normal maintenance and no major science pieces were in need of replacement. -
Hubble complets it's 100,000th orbit around earth

Hubble images show distant galaxies with likely redshifts greater than 8, showing the Universe as it was when it was less than a tenth of its current age
To this day Hubble's technologies are allowing us the ability to observe galaxies that could go under the category of the oldest galaxies that we have ever witnessed. -

Plans for Launch in 2018
