Introduction
In this task, I will be creating a timeline to show how the ppassenger transport industry has changed through the years since World War II. There has been a number of vast developments to the industry including new uses of technology, improvement in safety and efficiency as well as cost effective way to travel. -
End of World War II
A major turning point in history was the end of World War II. When Japan effectively surrendered on September 2, 1945, the war was declared to be over. This occasion, also referred to as V-J Day, ended the terrible conflict that had gripped the globe for six gruelling years. The United Nations, an international body dedicated to fostering international harmony and collaboration, was founded in the wake of World War II. -
PT 2 Products/ Services Innovation- Intro to Budget Airlines
In the last 80 years, low-cost airlines have completely transformed the tourism sector. For many tourists they have reduced the cost of air travel, creating opportunities to see new places. More individuals will be able to enjoy flying and see new places thanks to cheaper tickets. For budget travellers it's been a game-changer, and it's allowed the travel sector to attract more clients who might not be strong financially.

PT 2 Changes In Demand- Customer Lifestyle, Income and Commutting Cars
Commuting Cars- Within the last 80 years, Commuting and Cars have become of high demand for pessangers and workers of the aviation industry. Commuting has become more efficient for the climate and very accessible for those seeking direct routes to airports. The airports worldwide have also expanded and improved to help manage the amount of passengers in and out each day as the demand for aviation travel continues to grow. Cars these days are much more safe for lengthy journeys. -
Changes In Demand- Customer Lifestyle, Income and Commuting Cars
Lifestyle- There has been a significant chage in the lifestyle of aviation passengers. Back 80 years ago, air travel was only accessible to those few in society who were priviledged enough to afford this luxury. However, now it has become widely accessible to al with fllights of all prices and advancements in technology.
Income- Since the 1940's, passenger inclome has incrsed intensely, the boost in economy and living standards has generally increased as well as general cost of living. -
Products / Services Innovation- The Channel Tunnel
Since World War 2, the tourism business has significantly improved with the opening of the Channel Tunnel. It has made travelling between mainland Europe and the United Kingdom quick and easy. People may now drive through the tunnel or board trains with ease, which saves time and increases accessibility to international travel.

Online Check-In
Online check-in has been around since the end of the 90s, It was an incredible development in the efficiency of the flight indutry. Online check-in is the act of registering yourself as 'present' for a flight via the internet or in todays society, the airline app. It saves time and helps avoid long queues to get to the counters.

PT 2 Political / Legal Changes- Planning Regulations, Privatiasation
In order to maintain environmental sustainability and safety, planning standards in the passenger transportation sector have changed over time. These rules address a number of topics, including pollution limits, infrastructure growth, noise reduction, and airport expansions. Reguarding Privatisation is when private organisations own or manage airports or airlines from the government. This could include letting businesses run and manage these areas, or sell shares to individual companies. -
PT 3 Political /Legal Changes- Intro of Congestion Charges
From February of 2003 to the present date, congestion charges have been implemented in the UK for such reasons as reducing the amount of traffic entering such busy cities like London and Birmingham. Equipment for transportation is frequently enhanced with the money raised from congestion charges.

Tech- Smart Motorways
Over the past ten years, smart motorways have been introduced to help with traffic flow and capacity development on new large road construction projects. They are used to automatically modify speed limits and monitor traffic. The travel industry has benefited greatly from smart motorways, which have improved the efficiency of transportation and maintained a steady flow of traffic.

Environmental Versions- Protesters, Emissions
Protesters- Protests have the potential to cause strikes by airline or transport system workers which would essentially disrupt the travel system and might result in flight cancellations or other serious disruptions. This has caused major problems in recent times.
Emissions- Due to the high rise in Air Travel, CO2 emissions have spiked at an al time high in present years. This has led to engines that use less fuel, the use of SAF fuels and the implementation of stricter emission regulations. -
PT 3 Environmental Versions- Wider Motorways/ Bibliographies
Wider Motorways- This was needed to accommodate the increasing number of people who will travel back and forth to the airports as the travel indutry continues to grow. Wider Motorways were created to keep a steady traffic flow. https://www.climate.gov/news-features/understanding-climate/climate-change-atmospheric-carbon-dioxide

PT 2 Environemntal Versions- Noise Pollution, Bigger Airports
Noise Pollution- Over the past 60 years, noise pollution has majorly indreased. The major contributor to this is busier cities and airports. People who live nearer the airports such as Heathrow and Manchester will experience the noise pollution more than others.
Bigger Airports- This has impacted the travel industry on a whole other level. Bigger airports have improved the productivity and connectivity of the aviation industry which brings in more money and passenger capacity.
