Summary
The rise and fall of Rome was intense. They went from a small country to take over a great amount of the west. The Romans went to the point of challenging Macedonia to a power duel. Macedonia tried to assert its power but Rome ended up defeating them. This made the Romans very powerful. Rome did have problems with their security, however, which slowly caused them to slip in power until the assassination of Caesar. -

Twelve tables are written
The Twelve Tables were lists of the laws available for everyone to see. These Tables were then posted in the Roman Forum in the center of Rome. This also happened in Athens around 100 years ago; these laws reduced the chances of corruption. -
263 BCE
All of Italy is under Roman control
The Roman rise to power started to boom. They have defeated their Latin allies and now have control over all of Italy; their empire is growing. -
196 BCE
Roman legions defeated the Macedonian forces
Rome defeats the once most powerful Macedonia. This really shows how intense Rome is getting. -
168 BCE
Rome defeats Macedon
After Perseus takes the throne of Macedon in 179 BCE, the Romans sent an army to test the "sovereignty" of the Macedonians. This is like a "try and get powerful, we will destroy you" warning. -
84 BCE
The Republic grants citizenship to all Italians.
Rome acknowledges Italy and makes every citizen a Roman citizen. This comes with its benefits. Rome was forced to put down a revolt right before this event as well. -

Assassination of Caesar
Caesar was assassinated by a group of senators who resented his power. They wanted to save the Republic, but it didn't restore the Republic. -

Constantine is converted to Christianity
Constantine converted to Christianity and founded Constantinople. He was the first emperor to be converted to Christianity. -

Constantine assembles a council of church leaders
This council created the Nicene Creed (or the Apostles' Creed). This Creed declared belief in Christ's identity as part of God. -

Fall of Rome
The fall of Rome is one of the most iconic events in the history of the western world. This really showed the decline of the Romans and how they escalated and fell in power. -

Rome is no longer part of the empire still callled "Roman" by the people of the eastern empire.
Rome is on the brink of falling and the eastern empire is still calling it Rome. The original power itself is gone; they are controlled by someone else.
