Originally established as a trade route in 1821, Santa Fe was later used as an inasion route from New Mexico into Mexico in 1846 due to the Mexican-Amerian War. -
Religious Reforms
religious reforms in America fueled many other reforms later on such as education, abolition, and women's rights. The most popular of the religious redforms however, is Mormonism, which is still a widely popular religion today. Other religious reforms such as the Shakers, have died out and aren't known well. -
California Gold Rush
The California Gold Rush sparked in the late January of 1848. The news of gold being in California spread quickly, and soon thousands moved there in search of great riches. The Gold Rush lasted until 1855 after a gradual decline from it's peak in 1852. -
Impact on Social Group: Chinese
The Chinese began working on the Central Pacific Railroad around 1865. They didn't get very good wages, about $24-331 a month based on how dangerous their work was. This lasted until 1867, where they striked, and their wages were raised. The railroad was finished being built by 1869.
