My Exposure to Traditional and New Media

    In 2010, if I can recall correctly, one of my first exposures to media was through children's story books, specifically fables. In my nursery days, they displayed different kinds of fables on the shelf. I would ask for my teachers to read them for me, if they were busy doing something else I would then just admire the visuals of the books.

    In 2011, although it may not be entirely accurate, is the year I was exposed to television. The television a form of mass media based on the electronic delivery of moving images and sound from a source to a receiver. If I recall correctly, I would always watch teletubbies with my cousins on tv.

    In 2012, according to my rummaging through photo albums, I encountered a nokia C3-00 keypad phone that my mother used.

    In 2013, I would listen to the radio together with my gandmother. She would wake up early and turn the radio on with loud volume.

    In 2014, my mom bought me a tablet which gave me access to social media such as Facebook and YouTube.

    In 2016, even though I had access to Facebook in 2014, It was mostly my mom who posted my photos and videos. In this year though, I started to use my Facebook more.

    In 2019, I started using the app Messenger to interact with people from distant places. Messenger is used to send messages and exchange photos, videos, stickers, audio, and files, and also react to other users' messages and interact with bots. The service also supports voice and video calling. I stillm continue using Messenger until today.

    In 2020, my friends introduced me to tiktok. TikTok is a social media platform for creating, sharing and discovering short videos. The app is used by young people as an outlet to express themselves through singing, dancing, comedy, and lip-syncing, and allows users to create videos and share them across a community. I still use TikTok to this day to get information and for entertainment.

    In 2021, I created an Instagam account. Instagram is a free photo and video sharing app available on iPhone and Android. People can upload photos or videos to our service and share them with their followers or with a select group of friends. I use Instagram mainly for gathering and sharing information.
