Stanley Yelnats is Punished for doing something he never did. he is sent to camp Green lake where he meets some unfriendly people. like Mr. Sir, Mr.Pendanski, and the other boys from his D tent. he is forced to dig a five-foot hole every day. He says his unluckiness if from his no good dirty-rottenpig-stealing-great-great-grandfather. -

Stanley befriends the unpopular zero. Stanley finds a lipstick tube in his hole, but X-Ray makes Stanley give it to him so he can get the day off. The Warden of the camp comes and observes. She makes the boys dig in X-Rays hole, and all around it. She was obviously looking for something, but Stanley didn't want to tell her they were searching in the wrong place. he steals Mr.Sir's seeds and is sent to the warden's for punishment. -
Pages 157-203.
Stanley and Zero get in a fight with some of the other boys, so Zero runs away. he leaves without water, food, or shade. The counselors decided to just erase his file so no one would know what happened. Stanley was very worried for Zero, and decides to rescue him by stealing a water truck, and finding Zero in the middle of the lake. The walk to a mountain, and climb to the top to find themselves water and plenty of onions! But they know they needed to find what the Warden had been searching for. -
Pages 204-240.
They arrive at the camp in the night, and start digging in the hole where the lipstick tube was. They find a treasure box just in time for the Warden and the other adults to find them. The boys are covered in yellow spotted lizards, and cant move for hours. Stanley's lawyer shows up to take Stanley and Zero (and the treasure home). In the box is millions of dollars, and both boys are rich. Stanley's dad makes a foot product, and the curse of the family is finally broken
