Dropping of the atomic bombs
President Truman's advisors told him that invading Japan would cost too many American lives, so he ordered the dropping of two atomic bombs on cities in Japan. The first bomb was dropped on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945. The second bomb was dropped on Nagasaki on August 9, 1945. The first bomb was called "Little Boy".
