Elections in later 1932, Nazis won 37% in the Reichstag and Hitker demanded to be appointedas chancellor. But President Hindenburg puts Von Papen as chancellor. Von Papen makes a proposal to Hinderber to appoint Hitler as Chancellor. On January 30, 1933, Hitler becomes chancellor. This is significant because this was the moment in which he could covernt Germany into a totalitarian state. Meaning absolute power to control all of Germany. -
The Reichstag Fire
The government created a falsely fire as part of a Communist effort to overthrow the state. Adolf Hitler’s cabinet had issued an emerency decree to protect German People. This is significant Adolf Hitler to seize under the pretext of protecting the nation from threats to its security. This was the perfect chance to elimanate political enemies for future reasons that may interupt his plans going to war with France and others. -
Nazis vs Jews
Nazi Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels tell to Germans to boycott Jewish-owned businesses. At beginning it wasn't effective, so Hilter introduced The Law of the Restoration of the Civil Service" which made 'Aryanism' a necessary requirement in order to hold a civil service positiion. This is significat because the idea of Anti-Smeitism created hatred toward Jews.They were forced to retire, lost jobs, lost professions and ban jews all of the opportunities given. -
Germany leaves the League of Nations
Germany leaves the League of Nations because with demands of the Treaty of Versailles caused them hatred towards the victors. The significance is that the German people prefered to be Germany to be independent and admired Hitler and his desires for a better Germany. In addition because Hilter made a reason that Germany had the right to equaly of armaments. France disagreed. -
The Night of the Long Knives
A rumor created between Henirch Himmler and Hermann Goering caused Hilter to take action. The rumor was a planned coup of SA towards his power. This is a important event becuase it shows how Hilter takes action that can affect his future intentions. Killing powerfull people. This was an another excuse for the same event, the Reichtag fire. He called this action to save German people in a very crtical point. -
Germany goes back into conscription
Since Germany left the league, Hilter took this advantage and reintroduces conscription. This is a significant date because this was the chance for Germany to be a super power after it got defeated in World World One. This is the revival of their military power. At last to showthe process of how Germany and become a super power in a small amount of time. -
Germany remilitarises Rhineland
Hitler made a decision ordering 32,000 troops to enter the should openly re-enter the Rhineland. This broke the terms of Versailles once again. He did order his generals that the military should retreat out of the Rhineland if in the case France would act against him. This is an important event because it proved the France and Briain lack of enforcement towards the treaty of Versailles. In addition it shows that Hitler can violate the treaty to do future movements and decisions. -
Anti-Comintern Pact
The Anti-Comintern Pact of was an agreement between Nazi Germany and the Empire of Japan. The idea of this pact was anti-Communist dictatorships, agreed to mutually resist Communism and Communist states. This was an explicit treaty of alliance againts the Soviet Union. This event is important because for Hilter is a chance to use Lebensraum as an excuse to invade the Soviet Union. Also to encourage Anti-Marxism towards Benito Mussolini. The fear of soviet communism spreading towards Europe. -
Germany annexes Austria
Hilters intention was all German-speaking nations in Europe to be a part of Germany. A revolt happened consisting of Austrian Nazis. The Chancellor of Austria made a referendum but forced to resign due to Hilter's pressure. Nazis invaded Austria unopposed since Seyss-Inquart asked Germany for help. This is important because it shows once again that the policies of treaty of versailles are not enforced so this allowed Hilter to expand its empire since France and Britain couldn't take action. -
German troops occupy the Sudetenland
Another victory Hilters idea to bring German-speaking nations to be part of Germany. Again a revolt took place, and the Czech goverment took action. Hilter demanded its rights and forced Czech to do them. This was only the begining of occupation of Sudentenland. Yet again this is significant because France and Britain let it happened, even though they tried to do something about it but it wasnt effective. Also the betrayal of France promsing to help Czech and no sypathy from Britian made easy.
