  • The spread of British settlement

    The spread of British settlement
    The Government of Britain introduced an assisted passage scheme to encourage people to immigrate to Australian colonies to ease population pressures in Australia. New settlers took up this challenge, as they hoped to make their fortune as property owners. The crossing of the Blue Mountains by Wentworth, Lawson and Blaxland in 1813 opened up new pastoral lands to feed a growing population. With further exploration, new British colonies were established.

    The Industrial Revolution was the transition to new manufacturing process that occurred in a period from 1670 and from a period between 1820 and 1840. The main event was the changing of equipment in the time period. The short term effects were that work got done a lot faster for the time period.

    The enlightenment is a time period from roughly the mid-decades from the seventeenth century through to the eighteenth century. The Enlightenment was the event to make the people equal so that they all had the same right, so that the poor people could have the same rights and the ability to do the same things as the rich people. The people from the church had less authority over all the other people.

    The key event: The convicts came to Australia because for years before the English jails had been full. The English had been sending their convicts to America but because of the war of independence the Americans didn’t want the English to send anymore convicts so they started sending their convicts to Australia and giving them land to work on.

    the Indigenous Australians had lived in Australia for hundreds if not thousands of years before the first Eurapeans settled ind called it their home. the short term events are that when the Europeans came to australia they took over their lond.the long temr effects is that europeans took over all of Australia and the indigenous had to sit and watch their land get taken over

    The free settlers came to Australia at the same time as the Convicts but in better conditions. It was when the free settlers came to Australia with the convicts. The short term effects were that the British governors had to give the free settlers land and had to measure all of the land so they had the right amount of land for the family size The long term effects of that are that the land is ruined from the animals but the land is also ready to have things planted for the land.

    Imperialism is "an unequal human and territorial relationship usually in the form of an empire based on ideas of superiority and dominance. The main event was when countries with strong armies started taking over other countries without the same power and using that army to expand the empire. the short term effects is that some countries were very powerful and could do whatever they wanted but others got taken over by the strong armies.

    Van Diemen’s Land
    A second colony was made in Risdon Cove Vans Diemen’s (Tasmania) 1803 by John Bowen. This colony was created for the worst convicts who would not be set free. Van Diemen’s Land was a foul and dirty land at the time. It was home to all the worst of the Convicts who were sent to Australia. They were considered the worst convicts who committed the worst crimes over and over again.

    It was all of the time from the time that the settlers landed and some didn’t have homes so they lived on other people’s land the squatters were the people who didn’t have homes and travelled around the country with their family. The short term effects were that the people that owned the land got angry at the squatters and the owners kicked them out.1850- The long term effects were that the squatters and their family got bored and angry with their life.

    An estimated 15million people had left England to look for a better life somewhere outside of their home country. this for most was a voluntary move to get a better life somewhere unknown to most of them. Short term effects, in the short term England lost many, many people and other countries gained a lot of population. The long term effects is that countries got more population than needed and England lost a lot of their people to other countries. no there are English people all over the world.

    Commonwealth franchise act
    The Commonwealth franchise Act was signed by the Governor-General in 1902 to it was made set out who could vote in a federal election. The Act excludes Indigenous people from enrolling and voting in the elections. Aboriginal natives of Australia, Asia, Africa or the islands of the pacific had to live by these rules and regulations New Zealand was the only one that didn’t have to live by these rules. At the time of federation, Indigenous people in Western Australia had been campaigning for years.

    Franz Ferdinand
    Archduke Franz Ferdinand from Austria was assassinated in Sarajevo by a Serbian causing Austria-Hungary to declare war on Serbia. This caused the triple alliance and the triple entente to join and eventually they each bought other countries into the war and made it the First World War. The short term effects of Franz Ferdinand getting assassinated was World War One because Austria-Hungary didn’t like that their Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated.

    anzac day is the on the 25th of April every year and is commemorated by Austrlians and New Zealenders. ANZAC stands for "Australian New Zealend Army Corps." Anzay day is commemorated because it was the first major campain that led to major casualties in the first world war
  • Galipoli

    Galipoli
    Galipoli was the one of the first major battles that the ANZACS fought in. they were fighting against the Turkish. over 100 000 men died in just that battle. the short term effects were that it helped the allied forces win the war. the long term effects is that the allied forces got more controll over the other countries.

    The battle of Fromelles
    The Battle of Fromelles was a battle in world War One that was in France between July 19th and 20th 1916. The short term effects were that many died and many families were affected by this battle. Families and communities lost many in the battle with 5500 ANZACs and British forces dying in the battle. The long term effects of Fromelles is that neither side gained anything from the short battle that so many died in.

    The western front is the name that the Germans gave to the series of trenches that ran 700 kilometres from the Belgian coast to the Swiss border. The short term effects were that many people were dead and lots of families were affected because their sons and daughters have died. The long term effects of the western front was that there are lots of people that have died there and for ANZAC day many people visit turkey and remember the people who fought for our country.

    Aboriginal and Torres Strait islanders had the right to vote before the refferendum in 1976. the short term effects were that the polls were effected by the infux of people who decided to vote in 1949 and probably for many years after that. the long teerm effect are just about the same as the short term bt on a slowe basis
