  • 1775 Yazoo land act

    The general assembly was tricked into selling land to companies

  • 1785 University of Georgia

    The University of Georgia was chartered by the General Assembly in 1785, and was the first university made by a government. Education increased and jobs in Georgia.(New Georgia Textbook)
  • 1790 Religion

    Baptist and Methodist are the largest religions.
    People went during hard times to pray.

  • 1790 John Ross

    John Ross wrote a Constitution that helped the natives stay and to be protected from being removed. White Georgians increased their groups to remove the Cherokee from the Southeast.

  • 1793 Cotton Gin

    Eli Whitney invented the cotton gin which allowed the cotton seeds to be taken out of the cotton fibers. This made cotton huge and slavery increased because of this. (New georgia studies textbook)
  • 1805 land lottery

    The land lottery was to help men, women, and children to win land.More farmers increased in demand for land.

  • 1838 Indian removal act

    Andrew Jackson allowed the INdian Removal Act. This made the natives move from Georgia to Oklahoma. When the natives left there was more land for farming so it increased in farming.(New Georgia Encyclopedia)
  • 1840 Treaty of New York

    Alexander McGillivray who helped his people from being removed from their homes and also signed The Treaty of New York.Hawkin's goal was to make he natives farmers and encouraged them to grow corn, wheat, raise cattle, and to spin thread.
