  • Progressive Era

    Progressive Era
    The Progressive Era consists of many different reforms, social, political, economic, and environmental. Lasting from the 1900s to the 1920s.
  • World War I

    World War I
    In the summer of 1914 war broke out between the Central Powers and the Allied countries. In 1917 the United States decided it was time to join the war against Germany and started sending troops to Europe and the war finally ended in 1918.
  • Nineteenth Amendment

    Nineteenth Amendment
    This amendment was passed in 1919 and allowed everyone the right to vote no matter their sex.
  • United States Great Depression

    United States Great Depression
    The Great Depression starts due to stock market crashes and caused businesses to fail and unemployment rose quickly.
  • The Dust Bowl

    The Dust Bowl
    The Dust Bowl lasted for the 1930s to the 1940s. Due to a major drought and over farming the land grew dry and dust started flying everywhere. People had to flee because there was no way to survive in the dust which covered 19 states.
  • The New Deal

    The New Deal
    Before Franklin Roosevelt became president, he made a speech about a new deal which consisted of getting the country out of the great depression. Immediately after he became president, he started working on that new deal. He made reforms on banking, emergency relief, work relief, and agriculture.
  • World War II

    World War II
    After the bombing of Pearl Harbor, the United States declared war on Japan and soon after other countries joined their sides. The war ended 1945 due to Japan surrendering after getting nuke twice.
  • The Cold War

    The Cold War
    The time after World War II ended the United States and Soviet Union had a competition. This competition led to mistrust in the states because people were scared of communism.
  • The Civil Rights Movement

    The Civil Rights Movement
    The Civil Rights Movement started gaining lots of traction in 1954 - 1965 when events like Brown v. Board of Education, Rosa Parks arrest, Little Rock school integrations, Birmingham campaign, and many others occurred.
  • LGBTQ Activism

    LGBTQ Activism
    During this time there was a rise in the LGBTQ community fighting for civil rights and freedoms. In June 1969 there was a raid on a gay bar which cause more people to speak out and protest. A year later this event led people to come together and having the first pride celebration.
