  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The British parliament issued a tax on all paper goods in the colonies. The colonists responded asymmetrically because they boycotted the goods being taxed.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre was a group of patriots throwing things at a group of British. The British then fired at the patriots killing some of them. this was asymmetrical because the British thought they would back off because they didn't have weapons, but the colonists didn't and they got killed.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    The colonists were mad because the British put a tax on their tea. They acted asymmetrically by throwing a shipload of tea crates into the Boston harbor.
  • Common Sense

    Common Sense
    Common Sense was a pamphlet that highlighted why the colonies should secede from Brittan. This was asymmetrical to the British because they didn't thing the colonies would go that far.
  • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord
    The British were going to Concord to take away colonists stores of arms and ammunition. To do this they had to go through Lexington. the colonists formed a battle line to block the British, which was an asymmetrical response. one side fired a shot and the war began. at Lexington the colonists lost but at concord they won.
  • Bunker Hill

    Bunker Hill
    The battle of Bunker Hill was a fight for a hill near Boston. Most of the fighting actually happened on Breeds hill. The Patriots fought asymmetrically, the British thought they would form lines but instead they hid behind fortifications.
  • The Declaration of Independence

    The Declaration of Independence
    This was a document written by Thomas Jefferson and approved by congress as an official declaration that the colonies were free of Brittan. It was asymmetrical because Brittan didn't think they would go that far.
  • The Battle at Trenton/Princeton

    The Battle at Trenton/Princeton
    This was an asymmetrical fight because General Washington crossed the delaware and attacked Trenton on christmas night. A week later when the British moved out of Princeton to take back Trenton the Americans attaked and captured a virtually undefended Princeton.

    Battle of Saratoga
    There was two battles of Saratoga. the first the British won, but the Americans won the second. it was asymmetrical because the Americans regrouped and got reinforcements and won the battle.

    The Americans attacked the British who were in Yorktown. The Americans attacked asymmetrically by bombarding the British with cannons.
