The British pass the “Townshend Act”
The Townshend act, was a series or taxes on the colonist’s goods including paper, lead, glass, paint, and tea. (Specific timeline events on two of these taxes will follow.) -

The Congress elected George Washington as commander in chief of the new continental army. This is important because it is the rise of Washington’s fame as a leader and leads to his opportunity to be president in the future. -
Final writing of the Declaration of Independence
Thomas Jefferson writes the official Declaration of Independence. I very important part of gaining America’s Independence. -
Victory at Saratoga
America wins 2nd battle of the revolution against the British. This is important because it is their first victory since Lexington and Concord. -
Battle at Yorktown
The Americans force the British to surrender after the Americans win the battle. This is important because it is the battle where we won our independence. -
Establishment of the Legislative Branch
The Legislative branch is created and put into place. This is important because it separates and more evenly distributes power of the Government. -
Writing the Constitution
After the American Victory at Yorktown the leaders of the colonists published the constitution. This is important because it shapes the way our country works. -

The bill that put the Judicial Branch in place. This is important because it separates power in congress -
Establishment of the Executive branch
The Executive branch is created to add to our government process. This is important because it’s provides a new house of government in the White House.
