Who? Joseph Stalin Signed a 10 year Nonagression Pact with Hitler.
What? It was an agreement in which nations promised eachother not to attack eachother.
Why? Hitler had promised hime territory. Germany and Soviet Union agreed to divide Poland. They also agreed that USSR would take over Finaland and Baltic countires of Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia. -
Germany Invades Poland, WW2 Begins
Blitzkrieg= "lightning war", a form of warfare in which surprise attacks with fast -moving airplanes are followed by massive attacks with infantry forces
Who? Germany attacks Poland.
What? Germans were testing the strategy of blitzkrieg.
Why? This event happened becuase it was not discussed in the Non-aggression Pact.
How? Hitler annexed a western half of Poland, which had a large German population. -
Britain evacuates forces from Dunkrik
Who? Britain
What? Great Britain sent out a fleet of about 850 ships across the English Channel to Dunkirk.
Why? Great Britain set out to rescue the army.
How? Britain took Navy ships, yacht,civilian craft, life boats, paddle steamers, motor boats, and fishing boats and they sailed back and forth from Britain to Dunkirk. -

What? On September 8 started to invade Leningrad, he started by destorying warehouses where they store food. Hitler starved more than 2.5 million people.
Why? Hitler wanted to have control of everything since he already had the Balkans.
How? Since Hitler had already gone through Leningrad, he turned to Moscow, he heart of the Soviet Union. -

What?President Roosevelt declared war on Japan becuase their attack in Hawaii.
Why? Japan had attacked Pearl Harbor on Dec 7, 1941.
How? They ended up fighting. -

Who?Japanese against the Allied prisoners.
What? Japanese would put the Allied prisoners through brutal treatment.
Why? The Japanese thought that no one would ever beat them.
How? With the start of 70,00 prisoners who started the Bataan Death March only 54,00 survived -
Battle of Coral Sea
Who? An american fleet with Austrialian supported intercepted a Janese strike.
What?The Japanese strike was heading toward Port Moresby in New Guinea.
Why?Now they had to try a new strategy called Battle of Coral Sea.
How? The huge aircreaft attacked the ships. An it was a victory for the Allies since they had stopped Japans southward advance. -

Hitler Orders Attack on Stalingrad
Battle of Stalingrad= in which Nazis and its allies fought for control of the city of Stalingrad against the Soviet Union.
Who? Nazis vs. Soviet Union
What? Now the Nazis controlled 90 percent of the ruined city, Soviets luanched a counterattack on November 1942.
Why? The Soviets were tired of the Germans, they trapped them and cut their supplies.
How? On February 2, 1943 90,000 German troops surrendered to the Soviets. -

Operation Torch= was the British and American invasion of French North Africa during the North African Campaign.

What? The sound of 1,000 guns firing took the Axis by surprise.
Why? In the end, they launched Operation Torch.

Why? The battle for control of the Island turned into a savage struggle as both had fresh troop fighting.
How? The japanese lost alot of solidiers and they ended up calling it " Island of death". -

What? The Allied forces captured Sicily.
Why? Becuase they had captured Sicily, King Victor Emmanuel II had Mussolini arrested.
How? The Italians ended up surendering and by this time the Germans had taken control of northern Italy and they put Mussolini back in chrage. -

D-Day= was the invasion of Normandy which was the largest land and sea attack in history.
Who? General Dwight D. Eisenhower commanded an attack on the coast of Normandy.
What? Hitler was expecting an attack but he didnt know where it could be.
Why? All the Allies wanted to do, was to liberate France from Hitler.
How? After a month, they had liberated Belgium, France, and Luxemburg. -

What? The Japanese were ot going to surrender and they created a plot that would out supply the Allies.
