    German Invasion of Poland
    Most Germans were enragerd at Poland for taking their provinces. The Germans hated the non-aggresion pact with Poland and wanted to break it. So they did, promising Russia the eastern part to not fight them. This act angered Britian and France who had been giving Germany leeway and they attacked. If it were not for this one event the war may not have even happened.

    Battle of Britian in WWII
    In July Hitler ordered his forces to take down Britian. The battle mostly ensued through the air, where the German airforce fought the British. The Geraman forces, however, could not over come the British even with the help of the extra Polish pilots. They soon left the fight in late October the same year. PicturesourceI

    Operation Barbarossa- Russia
    Hitler decided to send a full 4.5 million German soldier blizkrieg attack on the Soviet Union. After signing the non-aggression pact with Russia it was a complete suprise to the USSR.     Battle of Moscow in Russia
    This was seen as the main mission for Germany, by Hitler. Code named "Operation Typhoon" it was a fierce battle to "cut the heart of Russia". Without their beloved capital the feirce nation would fall. Hitler believed this was a very crucial battle that would completely change the outcome of the war if Germany won.     Battle of Stalingrad
    This battle was a major turning point in the war for Europe. This war was the cause for the most casualities in the war, at over one and a quarter million men. This is the main point Russia stood its ground against Germany, and it work completely in their favor. Following the German defeat here they were forced into a full retreat out of Russia. With the Russians not far behind. This battle

  • Battle of Kursk

    Battle of Kursk
    This was te main battle for the Eastern Front. The German armies needed to get back on the offensive after their defeat at Stalingrad. Russia however had outstanding intelligence on the German's preparations and quickly took defensive points. Germany could not break through the Russian lines, even with the heavy losses they were causing. Russia soon sent counterattacks and pushed the German armies out.     D-Day in France
    This was a major part of the war, it is when America officially joined the war against Hitler. This was a charge of American, Britsh, and even Canadian soldiers on the beaches of Normandy, France. This is the turning point on the war where Germay is finally pushed back on the western front. Without America coming into the war through this battle, Russia would be the only nation able to stop Germany. Source/ picture
  • Battle of the Bulge

    Battle of the Bulge
    This was one of Germany's last attempts to push back American forces. They managed to gain over 50 miles in some places, but barely got any where at other places. Even still they took out most of the American troops. Luckily for The US they managed to keep the German troops at bay until reinforcements could arrive. After they recieved help there was no stopping the American troops, who pushed back Germany. Source/ picture
  • Battle of Berlin

    Battle of Berlin
    This was the major battle that ended the war in the European theater. Germany was runnig low on soldiers and growing more scared at the news of Russia's approach. Kids and old men were brought in to fight for Germany, but they could still not muster even close to the materials Russia had. Russia also just blew through what it had to. Berlin surrendered on May 2 and Germany surrendered only 5 days later.

    Source/ pictureThis was the major turning point of the War against Japan. This is when America used its new technological advacement as a weapon. America had created 2 Atomic bombs in what is known as the Manhattan Project. These were defestating weapons that wiped out entire cities in one blast. First America bombed Hiroshima and completely wiped it out, killing many. Even still Japan held strong, forcing America to send the second one on Nagasaki. The second bomb was too much for Japan and the surendered.
