    This was the first attempt where the British asserted governmental authority over the colonies. It was an act that basically required all legal documents and writings to be stamped and they must pay for the stamps.

    The first was not the actual day. It was throughout April. Many colonists protested violentally and verbally against the Stamp Act and the new taxes implemented.
  • Gaspee Affair

    Gaspee Affair
    Lieutentant William Duddington was charged with patrolling the waters of Narragansett Bay , in Rhode Island. She was known as an outgoing enforcer. On June 9th, the HMS Gaspee was baited and led Duddington into shallow waters near Warwick. Later, the entire boat was taken over and burned down by John Brown.

    The Congress was originally held becuase the colonist were unhappy about the Intolerable Acts and the taxes. The Intolerable acts were punishments that Goegre III put on the colonists

    Battles of Lexington and Concord
    The first shot that started the revolution was fired in Lexington. Soon after, General Thomas Gage sent troops into Concord to destroy all of their weapons.

    paul Revere road to Concorn on the 16th to warn the towns people that there were red coats coming to take all of their fire arms and weaponds. The towns people sonn began to hide their arms.

    This did not have a specific day in May. The Second Continental Congress met in Philadelphia and decided that it was necessary to form a continental army. The congress put George Washington in charge and appointed him as the General.

    This was a battle between the British Army and the American Continental Army. The British won the battle.

    This petition was an attempt to assert the rights of the colonist while still showing their loyalty to their King. But King George refused to read the petition and instead called the colonist out as rebelling.

    A short document issued by the ind of Great Britain and Ireland, George III. There was much rebellion in the colonies about conspiracy, and how they thought it was only there rights as Englishmen. That is why George III wrote the Proclamation: to show his displeasure with the lack of tolerance for rebellions such as the one the took place.

    It was published by Thomas Paine. It was a best-seller, and it advocated an instant declaration of independence. Soon after, it set fire to a sovereignty of the people and written constitutions

    William Howe came to Boston to help the British troops in America and the Military governers. He decided that the harbors in Botston were now indefencible against all of the atrillary and attacks from Dorchester Heights and Howe decided to evacuate.

    The writing of the Declaration of Independence took plae between June 11th and June 28th. The Continental Congress voted on their independence with Britain and formed a committee to draft the Declaration of Indepenedence. Thomas Jeffereson wrote the first draft.
