1492: Conquest of Paradise

EVENT: The 3rd of August in 1492, Columbus set sail across the ocean. FACT CHECK: Columbus did set sail with his crew on the Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria. / CONNECTION: People still today go in boats across the ocean.
RATING: ⭐ ⭐ I give it a 2 out of 5 stars because I only watched the beginning and it was bad too me.

12 Years A Slave

1841

EVENT: Platt got kidnapped on this date and sold to be a slave. FACT CHECK: The movie was the same as the book with the kidnapping. CONNECTION: Slaves and hatred is still a big issue in today.
RATING: ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ because it was a sad but good movie with good acting.

Lincoln

Apr 9, 1865

EVENT:On April 9, 1865 the civil war ended. / FACT CHECK: The civil war did last in 1861 to 1865. / CONNECTION: The laws have to be passed the same way back in this time to this time.
RATING: ⭐ ⭐ It wasn't really a good movie because the movie just kept dragging along.

The Grapes of Wrath

1936

EVENT: The Joad family finds a new deal camp that provides them with food and and a bathroom. FACT CHECK: There were many camps back in this time that gave campers food and money to support their families. CONNECTION: There are still camp sites around that people may go to.
RATING: ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ Even though the movie is in black and white it was still interesting to watch.

Red Tails

1944

EVENT: The Red Tails got their first mission and had to provide ar coverage and make sure they're safe. FACT CHECK:The Red Tails was a legitimate african american military air force that had to deal with racism as well. CONNECTION: To this day we have the air force in our military.
RATING: ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ It had a good story line to it. Red Tails was the best movie I watched in this class.

Selma

1965

EVENT: In 1965, Martin Luther King Jr led a group into Bloody Sunday to fight for their freedom and equality. FACT CHECK: Martin Luther King Jr was an actual living human being. CONNECTION: The Selma March was a form of protests and to this day we have non-violent protests and even maybe violent protests.
RATING: ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ I was actually interested in watching the movie.

Rescue Dawn

1966

EVENT: Dieter is shot down and imprisoned, starved, and tortured, along with other prisoners. FACT CHECK:Navy Lt. Dieter Dengler was a real man who got shot down and captured in middle of the Vietnam war. CONNECTION: Holding hostages in middle of a war is still common today.
RATING: ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ it had a good story plot and was interesting but the beginning of the movie wasn't that intriguing.

Forrest Gump

1978

EVENT: Forrest Gump owned his own Bubba Gump Shrimp business on a boat named after his love of his life, Jenny. FACT CHECK: Bubba Gump was a legitimate company that opened up in 1996 Monterey, California after the Forrest Gump inspiration. CONNECTION: There are boat companies that still collect all sorts of fish and shrimp in the sea.
RATING: ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ It was factual, entertaining, and educating to watch.
