Mandatory Attendance Law
In 1852 Massachusetts passed a law known as the compulsory education law. This law required eight to fourteen-year-olds to attend a school within their town or city. Laws for Transportation to Schools
In 1919 Delaware and Wyoming became the last to states to pass legislation for the transportation of students from rural areas to the schools. This improved school attendance and allowed for the consolidation of schools.

Brown V. Board of Education of Topeka
Brown v. Board of Education provided minorities with the equal right to an education. This law also required the equal right to facilities. This law also abolished segregation within the school system, allowing for black and white students to learn in the same classrooms.
