George Washington was a commander in chief of the continental army during the American Revolution. He served as a commander in chief of the continental army from 1775 to 1783. This is important because this is a step closer to becoming the president. -

After the American Revolution where he helped defeat the British, he was in charge of the convention and later on was among the first to sign the U.S. Constituion. -
