    Competition for Ohio Valley

    The British were trying to capture Ohio Valley by driving out the French by attacking them and building settlements. The French reacted to this by attacking the British and killing colonists and burning there homes.

    Fort Duquesne (Start of the 7 Year War)

    The governor of New France sent a French military team to build Fort Duquesne. The fort was built near where the Monongahela and Allegheny rivers meet. The fort was in such a strategic position near the water controlling the rivers, the British knew they needed to capture the fort.

    George Washington was a militia leader and was sent to drive out the French. the French had such an overwhelming force and drove out the British. But the British returned to try to capture the fort many times then the British finally captured it in 1758

    The battle on the plains Of Abraham

    The British attacked Quebec City but could not destroy the walls on the town. Wolfe knew he needed to find another way to destroy the city so he made a plan to sneak into the river between the plains where the British will fight. In the early morning 4500 British soldiers climbed the cliff to reach the plains of Abraham.

    When the British reached the top of the cliff they arranged them selves into two lines and forced the french to fight the British head on. Quebec city fell to the British in less than a hour.

    After the British victory there general Wolfe died in battle along with the french general Montcalm who also died in battle

    The French surrender

    After the British victory in the plains of Abraham the french continued to fight for another year. After the British captured Quebec the moved from it to capture Montreal where the french where hiding as there last defense. The French put up a strong fight over the winter holding off lots of British troops but both sides were waiting for reinforcements. the first ship to land a sear shore was the British when the French saw this they surrendered. The treaty of Paris was signed to end the war.
