    Calls could be encrypted for the first time and calls had clearer quality. People could send text messages and pictures. Speed was around 9.6 kbit/s but made its way up to 40 kbit/s. It was created in Finland and launched under the GMS standard.

    Users could access data from any location in the world, this is known as "data packets." Video streaming, video conferencing, and voice over IP was available. Data transfers were 4 times faster than 2G. It was launched by NTT DoCoMo.

    Developed in Stockholm, Sweden and Oslo, Norway. It made high quality video streaming a reality and mobile wed access was up to 1 gigabit per second.
