    The amendment abolished slavery. It can not be used for a punishment nor for daily duties. Congress is meant to enfore this rule.

    This was the first federal union that fought for better working conditions.The union discouraged strikes and stood up for making an actual change in society.
  • Haymarket Riot

    Haymarket Riot
    People were protesting when suddenly someone bombed the protestors. The Knights of Labor were blamed for the riot and sympathy was lost for the rioters.
  • Homestead Strike

    Homestead Strike
    This was a very violent strike. The strike was in relation to wage cuts and eventually shut down by the police.
  • Pullman Strike

    Pullman Strike
    This was a nationwide railroad strike which brought about a shut down of western railroads. Due to the fact of the poor wages of the Pullman workers. It was ended by the president due to the mail service not being able to flow properly.

    This was a group of people that wanted to ease the relation between labor and managements. They wanted to provide a comfortable work environment and allow for proper conditions

    Know as Labor- Management relations Act. It was meant to protect employees rights from the unfair practices by unions.

    This was the biggest strike in US history. The people wanted a wage increase. However, the company refuse but later settled to a 7 cent increase.
  • The Wagner Act

    The Wagner Act
    This was a bill that was passed by Franklin Roosevelt. The bill was set out to establish the relationship between the union and the employees in the work environment. It guaranteed basic rights of private sectors.
