  • First Video Game 1958

    A game called spaceware was created in 1962 by a creator named Steve Russell in collaboration with Martin Graetz and Wayne Wiitanen
  • First Arcade Game

    In 1970 Nolan Bushnell and Ted Dabney attempted to create a arcade version of Steve Russel's game Spacewar. In 1971 Nolan and Ted successfully created an arcade game version of Spacewar and was released shortly after.
  • First Home Video Game Console

    In 1972 Dabney and Bushnell created the first home gaming system and named it "Atari" this was a big step in the video game world. Also in 1975 the first game released on Atari 'Pong' was released and sold a whopping 150,000 units.
  • First Cartridge Console

    In 1977 a new console was on the market unlike any other it was produced by Atari and later became announced as the 'Atari 2600'
  • NINTENDO

    In 1983 a brand called Nintendo came out of the works in means to beat the competitor Atari so they made their own system called the Nintendo Entertainment System it was released in 1983 in japan and 1986 in the United States.

    A Russian programmer Alex Pajitnov created a new computer based game called Tetris in 1985 it was a challenging game where you had to move certain blocks in a certain direction and connect them

    Nintendo introduced a handheld video game that can play many different cartridge games.

    In 1991 Nintendo released a new console called the Nintendo Super NES it had 721 games compatible with the console and was another step in the gaming world.

    Nintendo released the nintendo 64 in Japan in 1995 but in America 1996. SONY releases the Playstation retail $299 dollars plus tax. Also it became the most popular console and sold over 20 million units.

    In 1999 BIlly Mitchell beat the game Pac-Man with a score of 3,333,360 Another event is that after the Columbine school shooting where 13 innocent teens were killed games with light guns were not published by businesses like SEGA also it banned the import of guns on video game consoles.

    Sony Released Its second console the PS2 it sold out everywhere almost instantly people were lined up to get themselves a piece of Sony's genius. In 2002 a game called 'The Sims' a game where you can create your own characters make your own city and much more once it was released it quickly became the best selling PC game of its time.
  • NIntendo & Microsoft

    On Nov 15, 2001 Microsoft released their version of the console and came in to the game with many doubts on their brand but would come to be one of the biggest brands today. The Xbox sold over 24 million units and made a name for itself. Nintendo's GAMECUBE released a day before Microsoft's XBOX on Sept 14, 2001 It sold over 22 millions units.

    Nintendo released the DS November 21, 2004 it sold an astonishing 154 million units worldwide the mobility of the device was a big plus.
  • Wii & Sony

    Nintendo releases the Wii selling over 100 million units it brought the game to you and was designed to make you more involved in the game. Sony releases the PS3 which at the time was ahead of every console including graphics and much more but the side to the beautiful console was its expensive price.
  • Social Games

    GTA 4 sold over 6 million copies its first week also allowed many players to play in a large lobby. Social games on smart phones start to increase in popularity such as Angry birds and Farmville.
  • Sony & Microsoft

    SONY and Microsoft both release their own version of physical fitness campaigns using cameras and motion sensors to track your movements.
  • NCAA Vs EA

    NCAA players were being used in EA's video games and the players decided they wanted a cut of the profit so they filed a lawsuit and in the end EA wasn't allowed to produce the series any longer. The players received 40 million in a settlement.
