How it started
Started with a bet. A man made a bet that when a horse is at full speed all 4 of his huffs are off the ground. Set up several cameras and sure enough they caught the shot of the horse with all 4 of his huffs off the ground. -
Cinematography
They started producing short films of 30-60 seconds long in the theaters & thats how theaters started to come about. -
Peephole Kinestescope
Tomas Edison invented the Peephole Kinetiscope and invented a projector but did not invail it because he thought he would make more money charging one person at a time. -
Great Train Robbery
The great Train robbery was the very first movie ever made. It was 12 minutes long and had 14 scenes. The creator of this movie was Edwin porter. -
Nickeloadeons
nickeloadeons were small-type theaters that featured films along with one or two vaudviles acts. -
NIckeloadeon
NIckeloadeon theatrs were attracting 26 million viewers each week. Five years later that number doubled! People started to catch on to the business and started making serious cash. -
Charlie Chaplin
Charlie Chaplin, comic genius of silent comedy. He started out working at 10 a week. By 1917 he was making more than a million a year! -
Early days
People soon started to realize that the scenary in the east coast was not so great. So they packed there stuff and moved everything to california where the grass was greener mountains higher and beaches better. -
Superstars
The independent studios in califonria had a different approach then tomas edison. In that being they wanted to make the actors famous and pay them because they knew they would make more money that way. Tomas edison wanted all the money to himself. -
Vaudvile
Small theaters that featured skits or comedies.Vaudviles then expanded into later known to be Nickeloadeons. -

Led by thomas edison and some felllow members formed what was known as the Motion picture patents company. -

First moving images that were about 30-60 seconds long and it was for one person to use at one time
