    travel started when romans wanted cheap breaks. Spa towns have also grown so much over the years. By the 16th century, the spa's popularity began to rise again and after 200 years the medicinal uses of spring water were rediscovered. Mersea Island, in Essex, England was a seaside holiday destination for wealthy Romans living in Colchester. The development of the beach as a popular leisure resort from the mid-19th century was the first manifestation of what is now the global tourist industry.

George Stephonson and his son was the first creators of the rails. these rails were built in Liverpool to Manchester and was 27 miles long. the trains were intended to transport coal faster.

After this all other companies followed and now package holidays are bigger than ever.

    Camping as a form of leisure activity had began to become popular in the late Victorian era. The first holiday camp was the Cunningham Camp for men on the Isle of Man, which opened in 1894. Campers at Cunningham's stayed in tents and conditions were basic. When people started travelling overseas holiday camps became a lot less popular and people stopped going. The most popular holiday camp was Butlins. You would see everyone their most days.

Most travel agencies have closed down because people now book holidays and look for holidays online as people now know how to do it all on their own. Travellers can book their own hotel online, look at their own reviews knowing that it is honest. I think this is a negative and positive thing because it has closed a lot of work for people but also so much easier for people.

They came into effect on the 1st of July 2018 to cover both package holidays and linked travel arrangements. Previously, it only covered the package holidays. Travel regulations were made to protect people from airlines and costs and to not be stranded in a random country for however long.
