Transport in the 1020s
The 1920s represented the times of development of technology. The biggest development in transport happened during the post WWI era. Land transport was the most popular way of getting around. People depended on cars for travelling between work and home, to run errands, and to visit one another.
During that time period, boats were the most significant mode of sea transport. The 1920s were the golden age of sea transport. But, another form of transport was emerging – air transport. -
The Hindenburg Disaster
The Hindenburg disaster at Lakehurst, New Jersey on May 6, 1937 brought an abrupt end to the age of the airships. After more than 30 years of passenger travel on German zeppelins (during which tens of thousands of passengers flew over a million miles on more than 2,000 flights without a single injury) the era of the passenger zeppelin came to an end in a few fiery minutes.
The fire spread very quickly. Many didn't survive.
