First National Gathering

This was a meeting to redefine what it means to be Green on the west coast. This was a large meeting, with upwards of 1000 people attending. This meeting laid the groundwork for the Green Party of California that would form 15 months later.

Ralph Nader was the first presidential canidate for the Green party. This was the date for the official acceptance ceremony, and was broadcast on C-SPAN on television. It was the first time they got national recongnition.

The Green Party was formed in 2001 from the orginal group, the ASGB (Assosiation of State Green Parties) with the intial goal of helping other parties grow in all states and colonies. This is the date when they were legitimized by the FEC. -
