    The first touch telephone was ivented by the AT&T services. This divice allowed the caller to dial the number on the box. The bell system was very intregued by this. I did not find the exact date this was released, only the year.

The first three digits represent where the person is, the second represents where the closest central office was to them, and the last is the line number.
