Creation of the Premier League
In the early 1990s, English First Division clubs believed that a radical restructuring of football was needed if they and the game in general were to develop and flourish. So on 20 February 1992, the 22 First Division clubs resigned from the Football League en masse and three months later, on 27 May, the Premier League was established as a limited company. -
The Invincibles
The Arsenal team of the 2003–04 season managed by Arsène Wenger, managed to win the Premier League title by going unbeaten for all 38 games. -
A new age for City
The 2011–12 Premier League was the 20th season of the Premier League since its establishment in 1992. The season began on 13 August 2011 and ended on 13 May 2012 with Manchester City sealing their third league title – their first since 1968 – with victory over Queens Park Rangers on the final day. -
Sir Alex Ferguson retires
Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, after 27 years at the club, retires after winning his record 13th premier league title. Manchester United won the Premier League title and with it cemented their place as the most successful club in the history of domestic English football. -
Leicester defies 5000-1 odds
Leicester City, managed by Italian Claudio Ranieri, won the championship for the first time in their 132-year history, with 2 games to spare. This was one of the greatest sporting shocks in history, especially given that Leicester spent a great deal of the previous season at the bottom of the table before rallying towards the season's end to finish 14th.
