First comic
The first flash comics was first released january 1940 with not only the flash in it but also stories of other super heroes and regular heroes. The original flash is actually jay garrick with a helmet. They made a total of 103 comic books for the flash comics. Jay garrick got his powers from boiling hard water than breaking the beakers and inhaling the gasess. You can read them here

The new flash
A new character shows up wearing a completely different suit and named barry allen. He had a new logo and everything this is the flash you think of today with the mask and everything. Barry got his powers from a bolt of lightning that struck chemicals and made the shelf of electrified chemicals fall on him. -
Kid flash
Kid flash also known as wally west got his powers pretty much the same way barry allen did. Barry allen himself made his suit which was yellow with red lightning bolts. His first enemy was mister element. -
Another flash!
Another flash is in town and his name is wally west. After Barry Allen dies saving the multiverse they stopped making comics of the flash for 23 years. The new flash was the original kid flash. He has the same suit as Barry Allen but he later creates a suit directly from the speed force. -
Impulse
Impulse also known as bart allen Barry Allen's grandson. He was born 2043 but he travelled back in time to save barry allen from dying and became known as impulse. He wears a white suit with a thick red stripe down the middle. He first appeared in 2001 in the flash. He got his powers by getting struck by lightning. -
A new kid flash
Bart Allen who used to be impulse is now kid flash. He becomes kid flash because barry allen dies and wally west becomes the flash so he becomes kid flash.
