Smith-Hughs Act
The Smith Hughs act established funding, money, for vocational agriculture in high school -
Clubs
Virginia was the first state to have Future Farmers clubs for boys. -
National Organization
FFA became a National Organization. A network of teachers guided the establishment of FFA as a team effort to establish a club for boys with similar farm interest. -
NFA
NFA, New Farmers of America, was formed for black students in the south. -
Federal Charter
FFA became one of few student organizations to recieve a Federal Charter from Congress (Public Law 740) -
Merge
FFA and NFA, New Famers of America, were merged. -
Females
Girls were allowed in FFA for the first time. -
Name Change
FFA's name changed from Future Famers of America to National FFA Organization to reflect the growing diversity in the agriculture industry. -
Convention
National Convention completes 7 year run in Indinapolis and returns to Louisville, Kentucky in 2013 for 3 years.
