    The two bombings were the first and remain the only use of nuclear weapons in wartime. They showed the world just how terrible nuclear warfare could be and goes as a warning for all future generations. If a nuclear war breaks out, the world will be drastically changed for the worse and the earth would be destroyed and made uninhabitable.
  • Love Canal

    Is a neighborhood within Niagara Falls where the canal had a lot of toxic waste which was dumped by the Hooker company. It caused families to go through health problems due to the chemicals around their homes. This is significant to the modern environmental movement because after what happened people have learned the consequences of dumping chemicals into the canal near people's homes.
  • The Montreal Protocol is signed by the U.S., Japan, Canada, and 21 other countries, agreeing to phase out ozone-depleting CFCs

    The Montreal Protocol is signed by the U.S., Japan, Canada, and 21 other countries, agreeing to phase out ozone-depleting CFCs by the year 2000. Its significance is that it is the first international treaty for lessening the global atmospheric problem before serious environmental issues can be detected.
  • US rejects Kyoto protocol

    International treaty that commits to reduce green gas emissions because of the belief that global warming exists and man made carbon dioxide emissions have caused it. George Bush rejected this protocol because he wants technology to get rid of pollution. He also believed that to cut down emissions of greenhouse gases they would need to use more natural gas.
  • Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Disaster

    The 9.0 earthquake and tsunami destroyed the nuclear plants in Japan. There were radiations from the destroyed nuclear plants. (WHO) released a report stating that there were risks in getting certain types of cancer. There was radioactive contamination in Japan.

    2011- One of Thailand’s biggest flood.Began in the end of july triggered by the tropical storm. The strong flood ended in mid-January.
