Democritus (around 400BC)
Democritus believed if you keep breaking down an object until it indivisible to see you have an atom. He also belived atoms can not be broken. To discover this he used his theory and curiosity. He belived the atom looked like a small indivisible ball.

Aristotle (320 BC)
He didn't believe in the atom. He thought all materials on Earth were not made up of atoms, but made up of four elements. (Fire,Water,air,and Earth). THe method he used was curiosity and theory. His atom did not have a specific look

He belived atoms consist of a positve charge with a negative charged electron embedded in it. The way he came up with his discovery was a chrismas pudding or a chocolate chip cookie model.( Plump Pudding Model)

He belived atoms have a central positive nucleus surrounded by negative orbiting electrons. He used the gold foil model to make his discovery.

Bohr
He belived that an atom can make transitions between the orbit allowed by quantitarium mechanics. The way he made his dicovery were protons neutrons and protons occupy a dense central region called the nucleus and the electrons move around the nucleus like the planet does to the earth.

They believed the atom had strings around it much like a violen. They also belived that the strings vibrated. They used equations to make this discovery.
