    Democritus Discovery

    Democritus Discovery
    Note- 400 B.C
Democritus created the name of the atom, meaning unbreakable. He also pictured the atoms as small particles that were all created of the same substance, but they all were different shapes and sizes. he stated that atoms are always in motion and will always be indisrucable. His discovery help us today because we are able to understand that each atom is shaped differently and in motion at al times, so maatter is always moving.

    History of a Atom Timline

  • Dalton's Discovory's

    Dalton's Discovory's
He discovered that each atom the of the same element is alike, when atoms with different elements aare different (mass). He also discovered that a atom of one element cannot be converted to another element by chemical reaction. He also discovered that componds are created when atoms of more than one element come together at a certian ratio. This discovory helps us today because we know that everything in our life is made of atoms.
  • Maxwell's Discovery

    Maxwell's Discovery
He based his theories on electricity and the movements of molecules. He was able to explain the properties in matter by the behavior of the molecules. He helped by leading to many advancments in colors, light and technolagy. "In 1864, Maxwell combined his ideas with those of Faraday and certain other scientists and formed a mathematical theory that describes the relationship between electric and magnetic fields"
  • Thomson's Discovery

    Thomson's Discovery
He discovred the cathode rays, which he asumed were very small particles of matter. He then made a model, the cathode ray glas tube that allowed the rays to pass through electric and magnetic fields that were perpendicular to each other. From this he created the Electron. He helped us greatly by the discovery of the electron, it heped us lead to new models and discovery because of the knowlage that was learned through him and his discovery of the Electron.
  • Curie's Discovery

    Curie's Discovery
In 1898 they anoncced that they discovered to unknow radioactive elements and named them radium and polonium. She then created a theory that radioactivity was a property that was linked to individual atoms instead of one that was dependent on the arrangements of the molecules in an atom. She helped us by leading us to new discoveries off the theory of radioactivity.
  • Rutherford's Discovery

    Rutherford's Discovery
He was the first person to discover the nuclear model of the atom, where he discovered that the atom is like the solar system, with a heavey nucleus that is formed at the center of each atom, and the elcetons create mostly the outer part of an atom. Earlier he invented this theory "That radioactive elements give off electrically charged particles known as alpha and beta particles. This process changes the parent atom into a daughter atom". He helped us create a model with the parts of a atom.
  • Bohr's Discovery

    Bohr's Discovery
Bohr said that electrons could travel only in larger orbits that the nucleus. He said that more elctrons could be held in outer orbits than inner orbits. He also said that electrons in the outer most orbit wrer able and could detriman the atoms chemical element. He has helped us today by introducing the movement within the atoms, leading to more advanced and helpful discoveries.
