Democritus: Atomic Theory
Democritus had the thought that everything was made up of atoms. One of the first to think of something like this with atoms. -
John Dalton: Matter
In 1803 Dalton proposed that all matter was made of atoms. He also stated that compounds are made up of two or more different atoms. -
JJ Thompson: The Electron
JJ Thompson discovered the electron while experimenting with a cathode tube. He discovered that they were negatively charged. He came up with the Plum Pudding model. -
Ernest Rutherford: Tiny,Heavy Nucleus.
In 1911 he demonstrated that the atom has a tiny, heavy nucleus. He said that Thompsons model was incorrect..which was true. He made a model that had the positively charged nucleus in the middle while the negatively charged electrons orbited around the outside. -
Neils Bohr:The Bohr Model
In 1913 Bohr made a model similar to The Rutherford model of the atom called the Bohr Model. He stated that there was a small, positively charged nucleus in the middle while the electrons orbited around the nucleus -
Erwin Schrodinger/ Werner Heisenberg: The Atom
Took the Bohr model further by making quantum mechanical model of the atom in 1926.
