James Cook charted the outside of Moreton Bay
James Cook charted the outside of Moreton Bay and named several features, such as Point Lookout on North Stradbroke Island. -
Possibly the 1st black-white contact on the island
Minjerribah (Stradbroke Island) people helped Matthew Flinders’ crew find water when they came ashore near Cylinder Beach on their way back to Sydney. This was possibly the first black-white contact on the Island. -
Shipwreck off Amity Point
After shipwrecking at Strabroke Island 3 boaters were cared for and fed by the Noonucals for the next 6 weeks. They spent the next 8 month around Moreton bay. The Noonucals at Amity Point helped the men by givin gtips on canoe making and help build a raft on the island. -
