    In January of 1886 Bishop GIlmour told the Jesuit superior to start a Jesuit school on the westside of Cleveland, Ohio

    Fr. Henry Behren, S.J., promised Bishop that the Jesuit school requested would open in September 1886, on West 30th st.

    In 1891 the main building was complete. This was where all classes took place.

    In 1902 seperate four-year programs were formed for high school and college in 1902 at St. Ignatius College

    In 1923 St. Ignatius College changed the name of there college program to John Carrol University

    In 1935 John Carrol University changed location to University Heights
  • Historic places

    On January 21, 1974 St.Ignatius High School was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

    In 1985 St. Ignatius was given the blue ribbon school of excellance award, for the 1984-1985 school year
  • Cafeteria

    In August of 2006 food services from the new cafeteria opened

    In August of 2007 phase two of the cafteria was completed by making a new student center and giving more options in the cafeteria

    In August 2009 an $11.5 million performing arts center was added.

    In 2009 St. Ignatius was given the blue ribbon award again making it the 2nd blue ribbon. THey achieved this during the 2008-2009 school year
